Category 1 Bio Hazards

The most severe of all bio hazard situations, a category 1 is a major incident with multiple victims, who may have suffered various injuries. The event and its repercussions are in evidence over a large area and require many biohazard cleaning crews for a prolonged period of time in order to address. Significant resources will be required in order to eliminate any visual or bacterial remnants of the event.

Examples of category 1 incidents:

  • Train crashes
  • Plane crashes
  • Bomb blasts
  • Large-scale road traffic accidents

Monthind’s cleaning personnel are fully trained to deal with category 1 incidents. They provide essential support to emergency services and owners of affected property, and ensure public health is protected as far as possible from any biohazard threat.

Category 1 biohazards must be attended by a bioengineer with a Primary Qualification. A bio first aider with a Secondary Qualification can assist in decontamination, but only under supervision of a bioengineer.
