Category 2 biohazards
A category 2 bio hazard is a major incident involving single or multiple victims who have sustained various levels of injury and where severe trauma clean up is required. The incident will have taken place in a confined area and will require one or two biohazard cleaning crews over a given period of time.
Examples of a category 2 incident:
- Decomposition
- Fall from height
- Suicide on railway
- Road traffic accident.
Monthind’s cleaning crews are fully trained to cope with the challenges of such events, ensuring any biohazard risk is contained and eliminated.
A bioengineer with a Primary Qualification must be present in the decontamination of a category 2 biohazard. A bio first aider with a Secondary Qualification can assist in decontamination of a category 2 as long as he or she is under the supervision of a bioengineer.
