Boots2Africa is a new not for profit organisation delivering donated football boots to the children of Africa. Iain Finch, along with wife Jackie and sons have launched a foundation to collect and deliver 1 million football boots to Africa by 2030.
Every year thousands of children die, become ill or are incapacitated by infections of the foot, snakebites and poor sanitary hygiene in their villages and towns; Boots2Africa will collect donated football boots and deliver them to sustainable African Charities and foundations. With Colchester United already on board, there are hopes that other football clubs across the region will follow suit.
The family will be heading out to Africa in April with Colchester United’s Football in the Community and African Adventures, however, in order to get there, they need to raise £10,000 for their travels. Fundraisers have already commenced with a ‘fearless walk’ joined by Love Support Unite, a Malawi focused charity along with a boot donation event at Colchester United Football Club as part of their Community Day. Whilst there, the family will deliver the first set of boots to the country as well as seek out partners to work with in the future.
