Our chosen charity for the year, Little Havens Hospice must raise more than £100,000 each week to carry on providing their specialist and unique care for local people and families. ‘When a family has been told that there’s no cure for their child’s illness, Little Havens Hospice can help. We’re here to make the journey as comfortable as possible, controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring for children at the end of their lives. Our specialist care is free – for as long as is needed – within the family home and at our hospice.’ – Havens Hospice
At Monthind Clean we wanted to get the team involved in raising money for our charity of the year. We decided to host a cake sale in the office and have a dress down day with the ideology ‘Dress Loud’ as this year Little Havens theme is ‘Let’s turn up the volume’. The idea behind this theme is enabling fundraisers to raise their voices and help shine a light on children’s hospice care. We asked for a £2.00 donation towards the dress down day and to wear something bright, something loud or something crazy to work.
Together we raised a fantastic £52.00 for Little Havens! As Havens Hospice is a registered charity and not part of the NHS they receive limited government funding. Therefore, the hospice can only exist because of the support and generosity of the community. Together with all the other Little Havens fundraisers we’re ‘Making every day count’.
Well done to all those who got involved on both fundraising days. Please look out for more fundraising events that will be taking place this year.
