As East Anglia’s leading contract cleaning company, Monthind Clean LLP wanted to work with a charity that resonated with all of their 1,000 + staff across the region. Statistics show that one in four people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point, so it is almost inevitable that everyone will be affected by the disease, either directly or indirectly, during their lifetime. Monthind teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support in 2015 and such was the success of the partnership it has continued to work with them this year. Simon Biggs, Monthind Partner, explains: “Last year was our 40th anniversary, and as part of our celebrations we decided to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. As well as providing practical support in a number of schemes and events we held a Charity Golf day at Ipswich Golf Club, a cake sale, and a coffee morning, and some of our management team took part in the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. These and other fundraising ventures meant that last year we managed to raise almost £10,000 for Macmillan.”
In August this year, Simon was accompanied by Chris Brown, Norfolk Area Business Manager, and Tony Payne, Sales and Marketing Business Manager, as he tackled the challenge of the Tour De Broads Race in Norfolk. Simon says: “The Tour de Broads is a great event; it is suitable for all ages and abilities as you can choose to ride just three miles or up to 100 miles. The longer routes incorporate 16 Broads, four rivers and countless beautiful Broads National Park villages.”
Simon concludes: “As a team, we raised £2,000 for Macmillan, which is a healthy contribution to our fundraising goal for 2016. The second Monthind Clean Charity Golf Day will be held at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club on September 29th, before another cake and coffee morning later in the year. It is important to us, as a company, to balance our corporate goals with our social responsibilities; we involve ourselves in local events, and raising money for a national charity that brings benefits to local people is a high priority for us.”
